Watching live sport in the UK has become increasingly complicated and expensive over the last few years. Many supporters now need multiple subscriptions across different platforms just to follow the sports and teams they enjoy watching.

Between Sky Sports, TNT Sports, Amazon Prime, pay-per-view events and platform exclusives, some fans feel live sport is slowly becoming inaccessible for ordinary viewers. Others argue modern broadcasting deals bring more coverage, higher production quality and financial support for professional sport.

The debate has also reignited discussion around illegal streaming, with some supporters saying the current pricing model is pushing more viewers towards unofficial streams.

It also raises bigger questions:
  • Has live sport become too fragmented across platforms?
  • Are subscription prices now too high for ordinary supporters?
  • Should major sporting events remain free-to-air in the UK?
  • Is sport slowly becoming a luxury instead of a shared national experience?

What do you think? Has watching live sport become too expensive?
